Have you been wanting to make money online, but don’t know how? Or you’ve tried and keep failing?

Don’t fret because a lot of us have been there.

My career began as a sales trainer and after years spent training people in the classroom I needed to find a way to leverage my expertise so I could earn more money.

In 2005, the Internet was just coming along and I had a light bulb moment about converting my knowledge and skills into an online course.

There was a lot of trial and error because the tools available today weren’t there, but I knew it was the path to freedom.Since 2005, I’ve developed several online courses and software and learned from these personal experiences.

The biggest thing I’ve learned is that the people who get rich online don’t do it by selling other people’s products. They build wealth by creating and selling their own online courses and it’s easier than you think.

If you’re wanting to make money online here are 7 reasons why you should do it by creating an online course today….

1. Be All You Can Be

With every new age comes new opportunities, I can still remember having to go to the library to do research for school projects.

Today, information is literally at your fingertips. And so is the ability to share your expertise with the world.

Just about everyone is an expert in something. But you don’t have to keep your skills to yourself.

Online courses afford you the ability to share whatever you want.

Best of all is, you don’t have to work through major publishing houses or universities to share your skills.

If you can use a computer and type, (even if it’s only with two fingers like myself) then you are good to go.

The best part is that as you share, other people also contribute to what you know, it’s one of the best win-win situations that you can find yourself in.

2. Business Automation

If education is your game and you want to reach more people, there is no better platform than online.

I have been a teacher for a number of years and I have been able to reach so much more people.

In the classroom, there are many distractions and you can only give attention to so many students at once.

Using automation you can offer an online course and provide one-on-one interaction so you have the best of both worlds.

Platforms, like Udemy, Teachable and Thinkific, give you control over the design of your course and keep track of students.

You can release content periodically, or design your course to be self-paced.

With automation, you never worry about leaving anyone behind.

3. Recurring Income

The reason people who get rich online from creating courses is because they make money while they sleep.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

An online course has the potential to generate a stable income because it removes the stress of constantly having to find new clients.

For example, before I created my first online course I was consulting with a handful of clients.

My biggest problem was when I would lose a client there was a sudden drop in income and I would have to divide my time to find a new client while still serving the others.

It’s a constant and frustrating battle.

The biggest thing gained when I created my online course was it gave me freedom.

As the reputation for my online course grew I was able to focus on quality and producing more products my students wanted so I could enjoy recurring income.

4. Flexibility

Have you ever heard of autonomous learning?

Autonomous working is even better. You can ditch fixed hours, trading hours for cash and the restrictions that come with it.

Now you can work on your own terms. You choose your times and locations for work.

Technology is amazing, and if you have a steady internet connection, you can work from anywhere.

The core of your course will take some time to design, but once that is done, you are free to tend to your students as they need it.

It’s kind of a paradox really, although you don’t necessarily meet your students face to face, you can provide a personal service that isn’t always as easy to do in the physical world.

You see, as an entrepreneur, time is your most valuable commodity.

Once you give it away to someone you can never get it back and I’ve found that online courses help me leverage my time so I can earn more per hour than what’s possible as a consultant.

5. Socializing

My time at university was probably one of the best times of my life. Sure, the studies were great, but socializing took on a whole new dimension.

From going out with friends to discussing the next exam with those same guys was amazing.

Add an online dimension and all of a sudden your group of peers expands internationally.

There aren’t any platforms available where you provide a student the opportunity to mix with such a wide variety of peers.

There is no age limit, geographical limit and no cultural limit to who you can connect with. As a course designer, you have the opportunity to bring great minds together.

Not only do your students benefit, but you also gain insights from all over the world.

6. Limitless Access

Never before has there been a time where information was so easily accessible than today.

We get bombarded with new facts and information every day.

I don’t know about you, but I often get news feeds on my device and I’m left asking the question, did I enable this?

Together with the amount of information that floats around, you have the freedom to choose what device you want your info.

You don’t need a desktop or laptop to attend a course, your mobile device is all you need.

The mode of access to courses has developed so much, you can literally access your content anywhere there is an internet connection.

As a course designer, you need to ensure that your course is mobile friendly.

The more platforms your online course supports the better.

You don’t know who will access your course, nor can you assume what device they will use.

7. The Price Is Right

I don’t know about you, but going to university is near impossible due to the costs.

If you get in, you end up with a massive student loan.

Online courses can provide the same quality of education at the fraction of the cost.

This is probably one of the best reasons to start an online course.

If you have a passion for teaching and have skills you want to share, you are bound to develop a quality product.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to design your content; all you need is your computer and a microphone.

Once your course is complete, you can decide what it's worth.

You don’t want to make it too expensive, but you don’t want to undersell your product either.

Ready for the Next Step?

The difference between success and failure is mostly tied to confidence.

The more confident you are about creating an online course the more likely you’ll become successful.
